Why Water Is Hard to Ignore in Agriculture
Water seems simple until you realize how much of agriculture depends on having it at the right time.
Hello, my name is Nathaniel Schultes, and I am a student at Penn State majoring in Agribusiness Management. I plan to graduate in May 2026. A lot of my interest in agriculture and business comes from growing up around my family’s company, A.C. Schultes, a water well drilling business that has been in my family since 1921 and is now in its fifth generation. Being around that my whole life has given me a strong interest in water systems, agriculture, and family businesses, especially how they grow, adapt, and keep going over time. I also value work that is practical and meaningful. I have always liked being involved in things where you can actually see the impact, which is one reason I am drawn to this field. After graduation, I hope to work for my family business, ideally in the sales division. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with friends, soccer, and skiing. Through this site, I want to share more about my background and some of the topics in agriculture and business that matter to me.

Agriculture depends on more than land and equipment. It also depends on people who know how to keep things running.

Some businesses are just businesses. Others carry a name, a history, and a lot more responsibility.
